Febraury 25, 2020— Nadel Architecture + Planning, Los Angeles’ premier architecture and design firm, has created a destination driven design at Renaissance Marketplace, a brand-new, 500,000 square-foot retail center in Rialto, California.

Nadel provided complete architectural services for the project on behalf of the developer, Lewis Retail Centers, including designing inviting outdoor living room areas that serve as a gathering place for locals and visitors to the City of Rialto to meet, relax, and spend their discretionary time.

“This ground-up retail development is truly revolutionary for the Rialto community from both a site planning and placemaking perspective,” says Greg Lyon, principal and design director for Nadel Architecture + Planning. “The center is unique in that it is not anchored by one large tenant and instead comprises a wide array of in-demand uses, challenging our team to deliver cohesion and walkability throughout this expansive, 50-acre site.”

Employing the use of stone and a warm palette for a contemporary yet rustic feel, Nadel worked closely with the entire development team to deliver a cohesive, pedestrian-friendly shopping and dining experience in a cost-effective manner.

“As one of the largest cities in San Bernardino County, Rialto traditionally lacked exciting restaurant options and common spaces for residents to connect, shop, and be entertained,” explains Lyon. “As the city has grown and advanced, residents and visitors have increasingly demanded a center like Renaissance Marketplace, which offers a wide range of brand-name retail stores as well as the city’s first true selection of modern restaurants and a central gathering place for the community to enjoy.”

Renaissance Marketplace features a luxury Cinemark movie theater, as well as a broad range of dining options including Septembers Tap Room & Eatery, The Habit, Panera Bread, Miguel’s Jr., Jamba Juice, Chick-fil-A, Chop Stop, Panda Garden, Starbucks, and more. Retail offerings at the center include diverse brands such as Bath & Body Works, Mattress Firm, Sprint, T-Mobile, Sherwin Williams, Burlington, Famous Footwear and 7-Eleven.

The retail center also features a Grocery Outlet supermarket, See’s Candies, a credit union, SuperCuts salon, and fitness studio. Plans for future additional uses at Renaissance Marketplace include hospitality, medical and wellness, and office.

“This destination is precisely on-trend with what today’s consumers demand from retail environments,” says Lyon. “From a real estate perspective, Nadel is extremely developer and client centric. We understand our clients’ goals: to create successful destinations, increase visitors and entice them to stay longer and return more often. For Renaissance Marketplace, we achieved this by strategically infusing relaxing gathering places, beautiful outdoor amenities, and exceptional landscaping within such a mixed use of retail offerings, successfully delivering a truly authentic destination that reflects the culture of Rialto and speaks to the community’s aspirations for the future.”

Renaissance Marketplace is located at 1309 West Renaissance Parkway, #800, in Rialto, California.
