September 20, 2019 – Dennis Someck, Executive Managing Director/Principal, and Justin Myers, Senior Managing Director/Principal, of Lee & Associates NYC have arranged a 10-year, 8,500 square-foot lease at 150 West 22nd Street, between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, for Inked, a division of Quadra Media. The space is split between 5,000 square feet on the ground floor and 3,500 square feet on the lower level. This will be the first retail location for the tattoo lifestyle digital media company that covers music, fashion, art and sports. The magazine debuted in 2004 and has featured celebrities and tattoo artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, Kat Von D, Don Ed Hardy and many more. Inked Magazine has nearly 1.2 million readers with a median age of 28.
The new location will serve as a combination tattoo studio, art gallery, photography studio and retail store offering apparel, branded merchandise and art. This location will also serve as the corporate offices of Inked Magazine. The art gallery will feature paintings and sculptures by both well-known and emerging artists and the pieces will range in price from $2,500 to $10,000. The retail store portion will resemble a museum gift shop with Inked souvenir merchandise and art-based items. The tattoo artist pit will be surrounded by a half wall and large pieces of art will be suspended above the walls in order to separate the gallery viewers from the tattoo artists. Serving as a visual focal point for visitors, the photography studio will be housed in the back of the space.
“Experiential, multi-purpose retail is the direction in which the entire industry is moving and this new Inked location combines numerous creative uses in one exciting and innovative space,” points out Someck, who represented the tenant along with his partner, Justin Myers. “The central location will render it both a destination for tattoo and art lovers as well as a space that will receive a high level of foot traffic, making it a stop for spontaneous visitors as well.”
The property manager is M. Rapaport Co., Inc. The owner was represented by Eli Someck of Redwood Property Group and Jay D Fuller of M. Rapaport. Inked is expected to take occupancy in October 2019. Asking rent was $108 per square foot based on the ground floor footage.
