October 9, 2019 – CellNetix Pathology & Laboratories—an innovative leader in anatomic and molecular pathology—is excited to announce the development of a new state-of-the-art facility and headquarters in the Greater Seattle suburb of Tukwila. It will also continue to operate a satellite site in Downtown Seattle for its Seattle-based pathologists, who will continue to serve as key partners to hospitals in the area.
“This is an exciting time for CellNetix,” says CEO, Kathleen Fondren. “With the relocation of our operational hub, we’ve designed a new facility focused on efficiency and scalability, that meets the needs of our growing clients and workforce. With a central geographic platform, we are able to better serve our hospital and clinic partners across the Puget Sound area, Washington state, the West Coast region and beyond.”
The 46,000-square-foot space provides CellNetix team members the most technologically advanced laboratory resources, including optimized work stations for histology and grossing, and a cutting-edge molecular lab with next generation sequencing capabilities. “This facility empowers us as we continue to deliver on our mission of ‘excellence in patient care—every diagnosis, every day,’ now and well into the future,” Fondren says.
Located in Downtown Seattle, the CellNetix executive team approached Hughes Marino professionals, Owen Rice and Gavin Curtis to assess the market landscape and discover an alternative locale. “The leadership group felt the time was right to find a new home,” says Rice. “After recent years of rapid growth, their current environment no longer met rising demands or provided the competitive position that is so important to the growth of the business.”
Enter Tukwila, a flourishing business community 10 miles south of the Emerald City. “We found a terrific location, which offered CellNetix everything they were looking for,” says Curtis. “The Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is three miles away, allowing ease and flexibility for market access, and the facility design, as created by SABArchitects, is second-to-none.”
Competing against headline names such as Bellevue, Redmond and the Seattle metro area is a daunting task, but one that Tukwila Mayor, Allan Ekberg thrives on. “Bringing exceptional companies like CellNetix to our city is inspiring for the community, and strengthens our business-friendly brand,” he says. “We could not be more thrilled for the arrival of CellNetix.”
Currently under a construction redesign of the existing structure, property landlord Sabey Corporation anticipates the site will be completed in April of 2020. “Sabey is pleased to welcome CellNetix’ new headquarters and state-of-the art diagnostic and testing lab to our Intergate.East Technology Campus in Tukwila, WA,” says Joseph D. Sabey, Vice President of Development, Life Science and Technology. “We look forward to working with the CellNetix project team to develop a highly efficient facility that will deliver increased productivity.”
A vibrant enterprise, CellNetix leadership sees the new space as instrumental to their expansion plans and market share positioning. “I want to recognize Sabey, SABArchitects and Turner Construction for their superb efforts in this endeavor,” says Fondren. “I am especially grateful to Owen and Gavin who delivered on their firm’s promise to represent tenants with a 100% commitment to excellence and client satisfaction as their partnership was a critical component in making this a reality.”
