September 5, 2019 — Avison Young, the world’s fastest-growing commercial real estate services firm, announced today that it has been named the exclusive U.S. property representative for Australia-based Body Fit Training.
The real estate company will help coordinate the fitness franchisor’s expansion across the U.S.
Body Fit Training is the fastest growing fitness franchise in Australia. The firm’s progressive training model, unique use of technology and unparalleled personalized coaching approach have led to the rapid and successful growth of the Body Fit Training brand. Body Fit Training has sold nearly 100 franchises in Australia since launching opportunities in April 2018.
Blake Olson, a vice-president in Avison Young’s downtown Los Angeles office, and Chandler Larsen, a senior vice-president in the firm’s downtown Los Angeles location, are leading Body Fit Training’s site-selection and leasing efforts as part of an aggressive plan to open dozens of locations in strategic markets across the nation over the next 12 months.
In a significant milestone, Olson and Larsen have completed negotiations for Body Fit Training’s first U.S. corporate-leased flagship location on the ground floor of 401 Wilshire Boulevard. The 12-story office/retail tower in downtown Santa Monica is nearing completion of a $20-million renovation of the ground floor space that will bring ample outdoor seating and new restaurants as a complement to Body Fit Training’s members and the building’s tenants. Body Fit Training will occupy 3,000 square feet of space and plans to open its doors in October 2019. Situated on the corner of 4th Street and Wilshire Boulevard, the location provides high traffic and visibility, 15-foot ceilings, ample member parking and easy access for nearby residents.
“With Body Fit Training’s Santa Monica opening soon, we are really excited about our expansion throughout the U.S.A,” comments Richard Burnet, Joint CEO of Body Fit Training. “We have hundreds of potential franchisees waiting for Santa Monica to open so they can see it first hand, and we expect this will start many discussions in earnest. We look forward to bringing Body Fit Training to the U.S, and the Avison Young team is a key part or our success here.”
Like all of Body Fit Training’s future U.S. locations, the Santa Monica site will feature state-of-the-art equipment; technology-forward devices for members to track fitness progress and nutritional goals; full bathrooms with lockers and immaculate showers; and outdoor seating spaces.
“The group training format is currently the top fitness trend globally and is poised for significant and continued growth,” says Cameron Falloon, founder and Joint CEO of Body Fit Training. “With the majority of group training providers focusing on circuit-style and aerobic training, Body Fit Training is well-positioned to disrupt this space and continue to grow through its innovative programming and technology and unique mix of both cardio high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and strength-based classes.”
Avison Young will work with highly trained and qualified franchisees to identify key urban locations in California, New York, New Jersey, Florida, Texas and Colorado, among other states.
“Over the coming months, our Avison Young team will utilize our national platform to identify and secure the best possible locations that meet the demographic and site requirements that will benefit our client and its members,” adds Olson. “With Body Fit Training’s headquarters in Australia, we are representatives for the brand, and are committed to taking this company to the next level of growth, here in the United States.”
Larsen notes, “Because we are working with an overseas client, we will be providing a robust, full-service and very hands-on model throughout the transaction process. This model includes working with architects, contractors, and legal teams, among others, in order to put Body Fit Training in the best position to succeed and grow its reputation for providing an effective and unique fitness model.”
